Overview

Located in the state of West Bengal, Murshidabad is a historic town that once served as the capital of Bengal during the Mughal era. Rich in royal heritage, magnificent architecture, and cultural legacy, it remains one of the most important historical destinations in eastern India.

The town is best known for the grand Hazarduari Palace, a stunning 19th-century palace famous for its thousand doors and impressive collection of artifacts. Another significant landmark is Katra Mosque, built by Nawab Murshid Quli Khan, showcasing remarkable Mughal architecture.

Murshidabad also holds great historical importance due to the nearby Plassey battlefield, where the Battle of Plassey in 1757 changed the course of Indian history.
